It’s a very good cake. Rich, a large portion and it has a piece of icing shaped like a carrot. This is both the icing on the cake and ‘the icing on the cake’ because it makes the cake that much more special…which is ironic as it isn’t special at all. You can get one in every town. This is not just a carrot cake, this is a Marks & Spencer cafe carrot cake. It’s not an artisan or unique cake. I’ve eaten the same cake in Preston as I have in Oxford. And that’s ok, because sometimes you just want to have something familiar in a new city.
